Dr. Avula moved to the Lansing area in. 1995, after graduation from a two-year Allergy and Immunology training program at Henry Ford  Hospital in Detroit,  Michigan. He has done his Internal Medicine residency at Saginaw Co-op  hospitals in Saginaw, Michigan. He is board certified in both Allergy and Internal Medicine. Prior to this training, upon graduation from Guntur Medical College, he completed a Pediatric Residency at King George Hospital in Vishakapatnam, India.

Dr. Avula has presented several scientific papers at both the national and regional medical society meetings, and has won several awards for his academic excellence.

Dr. Avula, resides in East Lansing, is married and is the father of two children.
